CAS Introduces New dataTaker Series 3 Dataloggers

The Latest Models From Popular Manufacturer dataTaker

CHESTERLAND OH—September 15, 2011

CAS DataLoggers has partnered with bestselling manufacturer dataTaker to announce the release of dataTaker’s new Series 3 Data Loggers, flexible solutions offering users even more logging features combined with higher-precision measurements. Several upgrades have been made to the successful Series 2 data loggers based directly on the needs and comments of customers the world over. Designed for a wide variety of applications and emphasizing versatility across many different measurement types, these advanced loggers perform local data acquisition and logging when connected to a PC; remote unattended data collection connected to a centralized computer via modem or the internet; and can also act as stand-alone devices.

Improved cold junction compensation is now available using a high-precision RTD sensor accurate to 0.1%, allowing up to 5x more accurate thermocouple measurements. To help monitor sensor cable integrity, single-ended two-wire resistance measurements allowing three resistance measurements per input channel have also been added to each data logger.

A 5V terminal has also been added to power external devices with a limit of 25mA, further extending the loggers’ flexibility. Additionally, the DT85 series of dataloggers now offers seven high speed counters which are shared with digital channels 6-8. This added value makes the DT85 even more viable for pulse counting applications, including measuring flow rate in the wastewater industry and integrated engine speed for automotive design.

The world-renowned dataTaker dataloggers are designed for flexibility, accuracy and reliability. Their many communications capabilities include RS232 with modem support, USB, Ethernet and USB memory stick ports, enabling connection to the DT80 locally, remotely or over the Internet. Featuring support for multiple SDI-12 sensor networks, Modbus for SCADA systems, FTP and Web interface, and 12V regulated output to power sensors, the DT80 is an ideal solution for environmental, industrial and many other types of monitoring projects.

Series 3 data loggers easily connect to most sensors and data measurement sources, ensuring that almost any physical value can be scaled and logged including temperature, voltage, current, 4-20mA loops, resistance, strain gauges, frequency, and more. They also provide an impressive array of communications features, making them an ideal solution for real-time data acquisition, remote monitoring and control needs. Renowned worldwide for their robust construction, dataTaker data loggers are built to last even in the face of harsh environments and over years of constant use.

Free user-friendly dEX software is also included with dataTaker dataloggers, featuring an intuitive graphical interface allowing hassle-free configuration and displaying real-time sensor measurements, calculations and diagnostic information in an easy-to-use Windows Explorer style interface. Real-time data can be viewed in mimics, trend charts, or tables, and users can also retrieve historical data for analysis. To get users started quickly, dEX comes built-in with no applications to install, runs directly from a web browser, and can be accessed either locally or remotely anywhere that a TCP/IP connection is available including worldwide over the internet.

Sales Manager Pete Martin of CAS DataLoggers commented on the new release, stating that “The Series 3 dataTaker loggers add substantial new features and increased accuracy while remaining a great value for our customers. No matter what these devices need to measure, they have the flexibility to get the job done.”

Series 3 products are now available for the entire CAS inventory of dataTaker dataloggers, including the DT80, DT85, the environmental E series, the G series of geotechnical loggers, the industrial I series, and the modem-equipped M series. Check out the series 3 overview page here.
